THE MIND – APPRECIATION FOR THE CLOSEST ALLY

Burning house

The world is a peril. Abandoning the world. It is not safe. You are finding safety in a burning house. – is this similar to the words of the buddha

Why do humans take refuge in the burning house

  • It looks solid – permanent
  • It feels pleasurable at first
  • The mind is conditioned to grasp
  • Letting go feels scary

The burning house is:

  • Anicca – impermanent
  • Dukkha – unsatisfactory
  • Anatta – not under our control

When we treat impermanent as permanent, or uncontrollable as controllable…suffering arises.

The world is not the problem – it is our clinging to it that is the problem. Our refusal and fear of leaving.

See clearly how things are – stop craving, seeking and looking for protection, identity and permanence in this world.
