The world is a peril. Abandoning the world. It is not safe. You are finding safety in a burning house. – is this similar to the words of the buddha
Why do humans take refuge in the burning house
- It looks solid – permanent
- It feels pleasurable at first
- The mind is conditioned to grasp
- Letting go feels scary
The burning house is:
- Anicca – impermanent
- Dukkha – unsatisfactory
- Anatta – not under our control
When we treat impermanent as permanent, or uncontrollable as controllable…suffering arises.
The world is not the problem – it is our clinging to it that is the problem. Our refusal and fear of leaving.
See clearly how things are – stop craving, seeking and looking for protection, identity and permanence in this world.
