External things happen in life. They cannot be controlled. Another’s opinion on you, some objective or societal expectation. The speech of others. Why is it used over and over in one’s mind to torture oneself.
These are perceived and sometimes created from ones own mind.
Then one chooses to torture and berate one’s mind, body and feelings – about these things.
Why?
Don’t torture yourself. Self punishment – it is ill-will. Let go of the torturer. Let go of wanting to torture. Let go of wanting. How can one having loving kindness for others when one has ill will to the mind and body?
The body, the mind, the feelings – they are friends. Do not make them an enemy.
Be kind. They are peaceful and assistive…why torture them. Why berate them?
